DANCE SCHOOL IN DEN DUNGEN

For the past six years, I’ve been part of a modern dance competition team. In June 2025, we became Dutch national champions for the second year in a row, the result of hard work, dedication, and an incredibly well-connected team. Dance has always been more than just a hobby to me. It’s a space where I can fully express myself, push my limits, and contribute to something bigger than myself. It demands adaptability, both physically and mentally, as well as strong teamwork. These are qualities our team has developed to a high level. We train with full intensity, and every member brings their complete energy to every session.

Since this year, I’ve also started choreographing parts of our performances and working closely with our coach. I regularly take the lead during rehearsals and bring my own vision into the pieces. This shift has given me a completely new perspective on dance. I’m no longer just a performer, but also a maker. Seeing my choreography come to life and being so positively received has been incredibly rewarding. It has allowed me to explore and strengthen my creative process in a whole new way.

My approach to choreography closely mirrors how I design. I create something, observe how the group interacts with it, and then adapt it to enhance expression and meaning. In my choreographies, I aim to make the observer feel what the piece intends to convey. I want to give them an experience. Finding the subtle nuances that bring out the emotional strength of the performance is a deeply creative and satisfying process.

I’m already looking forward to next season, ready to keep growing as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher.
